JOIN US FOR A DISCUSSION ON SUSTAINABLE BEHAVIORAL CHANGES FOR THE NEW YEAR

with Dietician Zoë Davis & Psychologist Derrick Harshberger

“Behavior is the end result of a prevailing story in one's mind: change the story and the behavior will change.” Dr. Jacinta Mpalyenkana

The New Year brings a sense of change as the days grow longer, and we make our resolutions and declarations for the coming year. Unfortunately, also around this time are the major promises of fad diets and body shaming with ‘anxiety marketing’ tactics from nonqualified people (i.e. diet culture). IN response to this, we have put together a special evening discussion with Zoë Davis (dietician) & Derrick Harshberger (psychologist), both qualified professionals who will not only dispel some of the diet myths but provide guidance for those seeking a more sustainable approach to change this new year.

WHAT WILL WE DO?

The talk will centre around 3 key elements, in an open dialogue between Derrick & Zoë:

  • Diet culture & predatory practices: how companies use false information & promises and instil a sense of anxiety & tension for profit.

  • The Power of Intention & Attention: what we give our attention to shapes us, and to use it for good.

  • Mindful Eating vs Restrictive Eating (dieting): the truth about diets, and how to identify poor advice from unqualified professionals.

  • Sustainable Goals & Healthy Habits: what changes are appropriate? What does science say about changing habits? Actionable tips will be given.

  • Q+A

HOW CAN I ATTEND or VIEW?

The talk will be held at The Yoga Root, as well as streamed live via ZOOM. Please sign up via the link that suits you best.
